Uniper attaches great importance to the protection of personal data and is committed to protecting the data of people who visit our websites. Uniper SE, Holzstraße 6, 40221 Düsseldorf, Germany, processes personal data collected during visits to our website in accordance with the laws on data protection and data security of the Federal Republic of Germany and is the data controller  in this respect. This privacy policy tells you how Uniper handles information that is collected during your visit to the Uniper website.

This Privacy Policy applies to all websites that link to this Privacy Policy, including https://www.uniper.energy (collectively referred to as "Uniper's websites" or "our websites").

1. Collection and processing of personal data

Personal data is all information about your identity, such as your name, your e-mail address or your postal address. Unless you have agreed otherwise with Uniper, Uniper only collects simple personal data that is necessary for our business relationship, such as your name, job title, address, telephone number, e-mail address and other contact details. Such data is only collected if you make it available to Uniper, e.g. if you order information material and use a contact form for this purpose or request this via e-mail, subscribe to an e-mail information service, apply for a job online via our applicant portal or participate in a survey or competition. Uniper only collects this data directly from you and not from other third parties. In this respect, the legal basis for the processing arises from Article 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR.

2. Use and disclosure of personal data

Uniper will use your personal data to respond to your inquiry, process your order or provide you access to special information or offers you have requested from us. For example, if you fill out an online contact form, Uniper will use this information to contact you regarding your interest in the Services. In this respect, the legal basis for the processing arises from Article 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR.

Uniper may also use personal data of its customers and data of participants for marketing purposes, if necessary, insofar as they have expressly consented to this in accordance with Article 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR. In this case, Uniper will use the information you provide to contact you to discuss your interest in the Services and to send you information about the company, its subsidiaries and affiliates, such as promotions or events. For this purpose it may also be necessary for Uniper to pass on your data to group companies or external service providers within the scope of commissioned data processing. For example, Uniper may need to share customer information for customer relationship management purposes.

If you have agreed to the processing of your personal data, you can revoke this agreement at any time with effect for the future. Revocation of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent.

Uniper will not sell or otherwise market your personal data to third parties or pass it on for their advertising purposes. Insofar as you have expressly consented to this in accordance with Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR, Uniper shall pass on your data to its subsidiaries and partner companies so that they can contact you directly. You have the right to revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future. This does not affect the lawfulness of the processing until revocation.

Uniper will only process your data within the European Union. Data transfers to third countries arise only in the context of the administration of IT systems in accordance with the rules on commissioned processing and only to the extent that a) the transfer is in principle permissible and b) the specific conditions for a transfer to a third country are met, in particular the data importer guarantees an adequate level of data protection in accordance with the EU standard contractual clauses for the transfer of personal data to processors in the context of commissioned processing in third countries.

3. Duration of storage

Uniper will only store your personal data for as long as it is necessary to provide the services or information you have requested and for the duration of our business relationship. In addition, we only store your data to the extent necessary to comply with statutory retention obligations or for the duration of legal disputes in order to protect our legitimate interests. We will delete your data immediately if they are no longer needed for the purposes mentioned.

4. Automatically collected information

When you access the Uniper website, general information is collected automatically (i.e. not through registration). The following data is saved automatically:

Hotjar

Web analysis and optimization using the Hotjar service, provided by the third party Hotjar Ltd, Level 2, St Julians Business Centre, 3, Elia Zammit Street, St Julians STJ 1000, Malta, Europe. Hotjar allows you to track movements on the websites where Hotjar is used (so-called heat maps). For example, you can see how far users scroll and which buttons users click on how often. Furthermore, technical data such as selected language, system, screen resolution and browser type are recorded. In this context, user profiles can be created, at least temporarily during the visit to our website. Furthermore, Hotjar also makes it possible to obtain feedback directly from the users of the website. In this way, we obtain valuable information to make our websites even faster and more customer-friendly. Privacy policy: https://www.hotjar.com/privacy. Opt-out: https://www.hotjar.com/opt-out.

Google Tag Manager

On this website the Google Tag Manager is used. The Google Tag Manager is a solution from Google Inc. that allows companies to manage website tags through a single interface. The Google Tag Manager is a cookie-less domain that does not collect personal information. The Google Tag Manager will trigger other tags that may collect data. We herewith point this out separately. The Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If deactivation has been made by the user at the domain or cookie level, it will remain in effect for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager.

Use of the IP address

Computers and devices connected to the Internet are assigned a unique number, called an IP address. Because these numbers are usually assigned in country-based blocks, an IP address can often be used to identify the country (state or city) where this computer connects to the Internet. Google Analytics records the IP addresses of website visitors. This allows the website owner to analyze from which parts of the world his visitors come. This method is called geotargeting of IP addresses.

The actual IP address information is not shared by Google Analytics with Google Analytics customers. The IP mask method is also used: Website owners using Google Analytics can set it so that instead of the entire IP address, only part of it is used for geotargeting. Website owners generally have access to the IP addresses of their website visitors, regardless of the use of Google Analytics.

Cookies

So-called session cookies are used on the website uniper.energy  and all its sub-domains in order to offer users greater convenience. For example, visitors to the Uniper websites can continue an order for brochures that has been started even after switching to another page without having to re-enter their own data. A session cookie is also used for web analysis.

Randomly selected visitors are asked whether they would like to participate in a user satisfaction survey. Whether you refuse or participate is stored in a permanent cookie so that you will not be shown this request again at a later date.

At no time is personal data stored in a cookie.
